Early Life & Wrestling Roots

Born on July 2, 1957, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Bret Hart was raised in the legendary Hart wrestling family. His father, Stu Hart, ran the famous Stampede Wrestling, where Bret honed his craft before making his way to WWF in the 1980s.

Randy Orton is in for his 20th WrestleMania appearance, but he went into the match not knowing who his opponent would be. It turned out to be the reigning TNA World Champion, Joe Hendry.

After months of rivalry, Orton was scheduled to settle his feud with Kevin Owens in a highly anticipated match at this year’s Show of Shows, but an unfortunate neck injury put him away for a long time, and neck surgery was expected for the 40-year-old.

It was also speculated that The Viper might face SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis after he RKO’d him on live TV after he broke the news about The Prizefighter’s injury to him.

Randy Orton Wins His 20th WrestleMania Match

Orton went out to the ring as the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas cheered for him. He took to the mic and delivered a short promo, reminding everyone that it is his 20th WrestleMania appearance this year. He also promised to give his mystery opponent their WrestleMania moment.

Soon after, Hendry’s music played, and the current TNA World Champion walked out with a huge smile. The 36-year-old TNA star is no newbie and has extensive experience in the field of pro wrestling, but he couldn’t outdo The Legend Killer.

The two stars scuffled for a few minutes before Orton hit his opponent with his signature move. One RKO outta nowhere was enough to put the TNA star away.

After the match, Orton went up to his opponent to admire his courage for stepping up to The Apex Predator. But poor Hendry had to eat up another RKO, courtesy of the 14-time World Champion.

This marked Orton’s ninth victory at WrestleMania, pushing his all-time record at the event to 9-10. It was also his first Mania win since WrestleMania 38 in 2020, where he defeated The Street Profits in Arlington, Texas.

Through a working partnership between TNA and WWE, Hendry made his WWE in-ring debut on the June 18, 2024, edition of NXT, where he participated in the 25-man battle royal to determine the number one contender for the NXT Championship.

He then replaced Je’Von Evans as Trick Williams’ tag team partner on the July 9 episode of NXT, and the duo went against Ethan Page and Shawn Spears. he even won a shot at the NXT Championship title in August but failed.

He made his Royal Rumble debut this year and participated in the 30-man Royal Rumble match. He was the No. 15 entrant and was eliminated by Roman Reigns.

Becky Lynch shocked the WWE Universe with a heel turn on Monday Night RAW following WrestleMania 41. Lynch turned on her partner, Lyra Valkyria, less than 24 hours after becoming the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. The shocking betrayal came after Lynch and Valkyria lost their titles back to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

Such a bold move by The Man has left fans and even other WWE Superstars stunned. This heel turn came out of nowhere, especially following such an emotional loss. This approach is being questioned by the WWE Universe, with many directly questioning Triple H’s leadership.

Becky Lynch’s Shocking Betrayal Flips the Women’s Division Upside Down

After losing the Tag Titles to Morgan and Rodriguez, Lynch attacked Valkyria post-match, delivering a brutal Manhandle Slam. This unpredictable move left fans shocked, as she had been one of the most beloved babyfaces of WWE for years. People are trying to figure out the motive behind this turn. Some see it as a move driven by jealousy or frustration, while others think of it as a calculated step. Lynch’s heel turn could mean something big for the future of WWE’s Women’s division.

These actions could lead to the development of a darker, more selfish version of The Man, leading to a new, very important chapter in her career. The future of the Women’s division is now even more unpredictable with Big Time Becks making such bold moves.

Fans React to Becky Lynch, Point Fingers at Triple H’s Leadership

Fans took to social media following such an unexpected move from Becky Lynch. Some are in favor, as it gives The Man a chance to reignite her career as a heel, while others are disappointed by the actions of their beloved babyface following a grand win at WrestleMania 41.

Triple H’s name has been brought up in the discussion, as he’s the Chief Content Officer of WWE. He is being accused of inconsistent turn of events. Check out some of the fan reaction below:

One fan commented, “They did a great job … made it believable.”

This fan wrote, “Becky is like hey if my husband can turn heel so can I. lol.”

“Becky turned heel before #GTA6,” tweeted another.

Whether fans love it or not, Lynch is once again the controversial topic of discussion. Turning heel, betraying her partner, and leaving without clarifying anything speaks a lot in itself. This could spark up new rivalries in the women’s division. One thing is clear by all this: Lynch is not done yet, and her next steps might be even more surprising.

Promos can be an important part of a wrestling show, as they help build and maintain feuds without two wrestlers having constant matches against each other. So, it’s nice to see promos included in WWE 2K25’s Universe mode. They used to be in the games several years ago, but they were removed.

Learn about one of WWE 2K’s newest match types.

Now, they’re back, and they work differently than they did before. For starters, there are no longer lines of dialogue in promos, nor do they function as mini-games where you have to get the better of your opponent. Yet, they have more variety, and you have better control over how they go. Here is a full explanation of how they work.

Adding a promo to your card isn’t incredibly complicated, but it isn’t immediately clear how to do so. You need to hover over one of the matches and click the button designated as ‘rivalry action.’ From there, add an action and go into the promo categories before selecting the type of promo you want to do.

Like other rivalry actions, you need to change the match first if you want different people to participate in the segment.

You’ll know if you’ve done it correctly because after you’ve selected everything and saved it, the ‘match’ will now be listed as a promo.

Promos can only include a maximum of two people and can’t be a team on the same side. However, you can still add momentum to a tag rivalry by having one member of each team do a promo against one another.

WWE 2K25 screenshot of Isla Dawn and Zoey Stark talking to each other in the ring.

There are five different types of promos you can do. Here is a breakdown of each one:

Accept Open Challenge

WWE 2K25 screenshot of Gunther talking on a mic.

In the Accept Open Challenge promo, one wrestler challenges anyone on the roster. The other wrestler then comes down to the ring and answers that challenge, immediately beginning a match.

Call-Out

WWE 2K25 screenshot of Scarlett deciding whether to come face-to-face with Liv Morgan.

This is a promo in which one wrestler calls out the other. The one called out gets to choose whether to come to the ring or not. If they do, the person already in the ring challenges the other to a match next week.

The other can respond by agreeing to the challenge, demanding that the match happen right now, rejecting the match, or starting a fight. There are no trick answers here; they all lead to what you expect.

Promo Interrupt

WWE 2K25 screenshot of Zoey Stark responding to Isla Dawn in a promo.

A Promo Interrupt starts with one wrestler in the ring cutting a promo. Then, someone else’s music plays, and they march down to the ring.

Once there, they challenge the wrestler to a match on next week’s show. They can accept, reject, demand the match happens now, or say they want a fight. Whatever they choose happens.

Fights that come from promos aren’t matches. Instead, they’re short brawls that end abruptly after a few minutes.

Issue Open Challenge

WWE 2K25 screenshot of Lyra Valkyria holding a mic.

Similar to the Accept Open Challenge promo, the Issue Open Challenge has one wrestler calling out anyone on the roster.

A mystery opponent accepts, and they have a match. You can select the mystery opponent as you’re setting up the promo.

Self-Promo

WWE 2K25 screenshot of Sami Zayn doing a self-promo.

In a Self-Promo, only one wrestler participates in the talking segment. The wrestler can either declare that they’re going to win their next contest and leave the ring or set themselves a challenge for their next match.

If they pick the challenge one, they must select the challenge they want to take on. The options are win in five minutes, win while barely getting touched, make your opponent tap out, or win after pulling off a super finisher. The next time that wrestler has a match, the challenge will appear on screen.

If any promo you do leads to a fight, match, or challenge, then the wrestler who succeeds in any of those things gets a boost, while the loser is given a debuff.

Many in the WWE Universe rejoiced when Pat McAfee got choked out by Gunther on RAW, and he’s not happy about it.

On today’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the RAW commentator addressed being choked out by Gunther and said he wants to punch any fan in the face who is happy about what happened to him on Monday night.

“Thank you for all the positive prayers and vibes for this here neck,” Pat McAfee said. “Gunther snatched up and choked me out on Raw after Mania. I went to a local medical facility in Las Vegas. I thought I might have something with the C2 or C3, something in the neck because of how it felt. But they said I was deemed A-OK.

“I certainly lost consciousness, as the entire world watched on. Shout-out to the boys jumping the barricade. I do have some questions, all that security is focused on the boys, I’d be focused too. Ty was going to get some. Boston Connor was going to naw on an Achilles. DBone actually puked ringside. He almost ran through four to five different guys.

“I appreciate you guys getting in there as I was blindsided trying to stick up for Michael Cole as the Austrian asshole attacked me. There are security and there is nobody (helping) as I’m getting my life choked out of me. What am I supposed to do? I found out quickly there isn’t much to do when Gunther has that thing on you. I felt my body slithering away. You kind of disappear from existence.

Pat McAfee basically threatens the WWE Universe

“Everybody who said they are happy it happened to me, I hope we meet in person so I can punch you in the f*cking face. I was sticking up for Michael Cole. What happens next? You tell me. I’m bout it, bout it for whatever. If you think choking me out is going to end me, you’re wrong. You think you’re going to bury me publicly, and I’m gonna quit showing up? You’re wrong. You’re not going to mess with Michael Cole and get away with it.” [H/T: Fightful]

Based on his comments, it certainly doesn’t sound like McAfee intends to miss any time.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on Pat McAfee’s WWE status as it becomes available.

Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon: The Mastermind Behind WWF’s Rise to Dominance

Few names in the wrestling world evoke as much reverence, controversy, and sheer spectacle as Vince McMahon. The driving force behind World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), McMahon took a regional wrestling promotion and turned it into a global media empire. His bold vision, theatrical bravado, and willingness to embrace spectacle changed professional wrestling forever.

History & Insight

The Early Years: From Announcer to Architect

Born on August 24, 1945, Vincent Kennedy McMahon was destined to redefine professional wrestling. Raised by his mother after being estranged from his father (Vince McMahon Sr.), McMahon found his way into the family business in the 1970s. His early years as a WWF commentator showcased his enthusiasm, but his ambitions were much greater.

In 1982, McMahon purchased WWF from his father, setting the stage for his revolution of sports entertainment. His strategy? Expand beyond the territorial model, invest in television, and create characters that transcended the squared circle.

Hulkamania & The Birth of WrestleMania

One of McMahon’s most groundbreaking moves was forging a partnership with Hulk Hogan, the charismatic powerhouse who became the face of professional wrestling. Hogan’s rise coincided with McMahon’s most daring creation—WrestleMania.

Launched in 1985, WrestleMania was wrestling’s Super Bowl, blending celebrity appearances, dramatic storylines, and larger-than-life performances. With stars like Andre the Giant, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, and Ricky Steamboat gracing the ring, WWF became a pop culture sensation.

The Monday Night Wars & WWF’s Attitude Era

As WWF expanded into the 1990s, the competition with WCW ignited what became known as the Monday Night Wars. Ted Turner’s WCW threatened WWF’s dominance by poaching talent and launching Nitro, a direct competitor to McMahon’s Monday Night Raw.

McMahon responded with Attitude Era, a grittier, edgier product featuring DX, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock. Austin vs. McMahon—an employee rebelling against his ruthless boss—became one of the most legendary rivalries in wrestling history.

Controversies, Triumphs, & WWE’s Global Expansion

McMahon’s career has been far from controversy-free. From steroid scandals in the early ’90s to legal battles and shocking storylines, he’s weathered storms that would sink most executives.

However, WWF’s transition to WWE in 2002 signaled another evolution. McMahon oversaw the brand’s expansion into Hollywood, mainstream media, and digital entertainment. WWE Network revolutionized how fans consumed wrestling, and McMahon’s ability to adapt kept his empire thriving.

Legacy: The Billion-Dollar Visionary

McMahon’s legacy is complex—he’s seen as a brilliant promoter, ruthless businessman, and unparalleled showman. His influence spans decades, shaping the careers of icons like The Undertaker, Triple H, and John Cena.

Whether loved or loathed, one truth remains: McMahon isn’t just a wrestling mogul—he’s the architect of modern sports entertainment.
